Engagement Photography

A pre wedding photo session, commonly known as an engagement session, is a fun way to get to know one another. First and foremost, you should have an engagement session done because it’s fun. You get to pamper yourself and dress up and — here’s the best part — hang out and spend some quality time with your best friend for a good hour or two. Engagement photography might not be something you have put much thought in to but hear me out.

The pre wedding shoot is offered as a great way for us to get to know each other better before your wedding day. We spend about an hour or two on location, talk through your wedding plans and have fun together. I get to experience you as a couple, who’s cheeky, playful or reserved, and you can experience a professional photographer taking your photo and get a feel for how I work, giving you confidence and reassurance. Then on your wedding day I am more of a friend that’s spending the day with you, blending into the background.

A couples’ portrait session also serves as prime bonding time for you two. In fact, many of the couples I photograph tell me that their engagement shoot brought them closer together, something they didn’t think possible considering how much they were in love already. How’s that for awesome?

Think about it, though. When you’re doing intimate things such as just looking into each other’s eyes, holding your partner’s hand or resting on his shoulder in very romantic settings, it’s impossible not to fall more in love. Truth: In our fast-paced world, sometimes we forget to enjoy the silence and the moment and just be together. Typically my engagement sessions happen in Los Angeles and Orange County, but I love doing destination shoots as well! I do offer discounted sessions for destination engagement session

There are also practical reasons for an engagement session, too. For example, many people use shots from their engagement shoot for save the dates, wedding invitations and even thank you cards post-wedding. (Psst. I can totally hook you up with those extras.)

Your engagement photographs are also great to use on your engagement website, for announcing your engagement online and for simply documenting yourself as a young and in-love couple. I promise you, your grandkids will get a kick out of these pictures in, say, 40 years!

Engagement photography allows for some beautiful imagery with my couples. My clients choose locations that fit their lifestyles and it truly shows in their images. Send me an email and let’s plan out your engagement session!
